Band 4 £31,966 - £35,828 BAR £36,899 - £37,967 per annum 

 

Working unsocial hours on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday or on weekdays between 8pm and 6am will attracted payment at an enhanced rate as follows:

 

Monday to Friday 8:00pm – 06:00am – 40%

Saturday – 40%

Sunday and Bank Holidays – 80%

Are you interested in a career in Guernsey within the Adult Disability Team providing support to our service users?


The Adult Disability Service in Guernsey support people with learning disabilities and autism in a variety of settings. These include residential homes, supported living, outreach and day services. As a support worker, depending on your skills and knowledge, you may be based in any one of these teams.

 

Your day will involve around helping people live an ordinary life in their community, supporting personal care, promoting independent living skills and providing emotional support using an active support model.  You will be expected to work closely not only with our service users but their family and friends, other professionals with whom they may come into contact with and be a part.

 

No initial qualifications are needed to apply for this role. However, there are opportunities to complete either NVQ level 3 or BTEC in Positive Behaviour Support which will be discussed on your yearly appraisal.

Appointment to this role will be subject to the following pre-employment checks which will be completed following an offer of employment:

  • Occupational Health Clearance

  • Satisfactory, Enhanced, Disclosure and Barring Service Check with Barred Listing Check.  Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include crimes involving, but not limited to, theft violence, dishonesty, fraud, vulnerable individuals and children

  • Confirmation of required qualifications / registrations

  • Possession of a valid Right to Work document/Employment Permit

 

Any successful applicant would be appointed at a level appropriate to their skills at that time and will have the opportunity to progress through the grades advertised above once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and the postholder has demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at a higher level to the satisfaction of their line manager or obtaining qualifications appropriate to the role.
