Part Time Variable Hours Learning Support Practitioner

Hours: Applicants must be able to work a minimum of three full days per week (ideally Monday and Friday, and either Wednesday or Thursday)

Salary: £13.92 per hour inclusive of holiday pay*. Plus generous benefits including an Occupational Pension Scheme 

*the base hourly rate is £11.90 per hour, plus holiday pay, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £13.92 per hour 

About the role
Learning Support Practitioners provide educational support and care to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities across College.

You will provide support, either one-to-one or for small groups of students, in class and across unstructured time to:
•    enable full understanding of the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning
•    assist teaching staff by supporting students and guiding their learning
•    help with mobility and personal care needs in College and on off-site visits

In addition to in-class support there may be opportunities or requirements to provide out of class support to students over lunch and break times and a requirement to proactively liaise with tutors.

About the Person
Applicants should be educated to Level 3 or above and should have skills in a number of the following areas: 

•    support for people on the autistic spectrum
•    support for students with emotional and/or behavioural issues
•    support for people with severe learning difficulties/disabilities
•    support for people with medical conditions 
•    knowledge and understanding of ICT and assistive technology
•    support for students with visual impairment
•    support for students with hearing impairment
•    mobility and personal care 

Flexibility, energy and enthusiasm are also important in this role.
