Fantastic opportunity for a Practice Nurse

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic registered practice nurse (RGN) to work 16 hours across 2 days each week. Main duties of the job

Seeing patients with routine and emergency appointments in the treatment room by assessing the patients physical, psychological and social needs through consultation, examination and appropriate tests. Providing holistic patient care including health education and advice.

To implement an agreed management plan with patients

To refer internally to other members of the Primary Health care Team as necessary.

To set standards of care by developing, implementing and updating protocols and encouraging new health promotion activities to the practice.

To routinely use audit as a tool for evaluating the effectiveness of health care provision.

General treatment duties, including dressings, phlebotomy, ECGs, ear syringing, injections, inhaler techniques, baby immunisations, taking of smears and assisting the GPs as necessary with minor surgery and other techniques.

To fulfil all requirements for QOF, QMAS and good practice in chronic disease management and where necessary act as a focal point for QOF related activities involving Nursing and HCA staff..

With GPs and other practice nurses, identify priorities for addressing gaps in services.

Maintaining adequate stocks i.e. dressings, drugs, utensils, health promotion leaflets and ensuring the treatment rooms are clean and tidy.

Our practice provides services for over 13000 patients from a main surgery in Kidlington and a branch surgery in Yarnton.

We are situated in Englands largest village on the edge of Oxford city and on the border of the beautiful Cotswold countryside.

Our clinical team includes partners, salaried GPs, advanced nurse practitioner, paramedic practitioner, nurses, clinical pharmacists and HCAs. Through our primary care network we also have first contact practitioners, mental health workers and a social prescribing team. Our clinicians are supported by an excellent team of non-clinical staff.

Job responsibilities

SUMMARY

  • The post holder will assist the Nurse Manager to support, motivate, encourage and develop the team of practice nurses in both the Kidlington and Yarnton practices.
  • The post holder will provide high quality, evidence based nursing services and will jointly identify appropriate priorities for sharing the clinical workload with the GPs.
  • The post holder will work with the Practice Partners and Nurse Manager to develop comprehensive and efficient chronic disease clinics.
  • The post holder will carry out a full range of clinical duties in both the Kidlington and Yarnton practices.
  • This post holder will be expected to have a professional nursing input into any nursing service provided by the Practice.
  • The post holder will maintain a high standard of professional conduct and nursing care at all times in accordance with the requirements of the NMC.

CLINCAL RESPONSIBILIES
