Job summary

Norbury Ward - Band 4 Registered Nurse Associate/Physical Health Lead

We are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse Associate to be the physical health lead for Norbury Ward. Norbury Ward is a 23 bedded, female acute inpatient ward for patients between 18-65.

You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week and shifts pattern can be flexible whilst meeting the needs of the service.

You will be working alongside the wider nursing team and be involved in monitoring the patient's physical and mental health and associated care delivery.

We are hoping that if able to recruit into two posts, the role can be shared and undertaken over 7 days a week. If this were achievable, the role could be expanded to allow both staff members to widen their involvement with other tasks that as a Registered Nurse Associate you will be trained in and have the necessary experience to undertake.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake the physical health role lead.
  • To undertake physical health monitoring from admission and when required until discharge.
  • To enter outcome of physical health monitoring data on electronic systems.
  • Overseeing patient's weight monitoring.
  • Health promotion and education on healthier lifestyle choices such as smoking, drug and alcohol, diet and exercise. Encouraging attendance at routine health and dental appointments.
  • Escalate concerns identified to nursing and medical team.
  • Undertake venapuncture, urinalysis and ECG's.
  • Involvement in care planning relating to physical health needs.
  • Administration of medication.
  • Liaising with other professionals relating to patient care i.e. dietetics, speech and language, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
  • Overseeing health promotion notice boards and leaflets for patients.
  • Attendance at education events to share learning with others in the team.
