We are seeking a motivated and reliable Building Surveyor who will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of our construction projects.

Rate of Pay: £
19.81 per hour
Location: 
 Civic Centre, Ebbw Vale, NP23 6XB
Job Type: Initially for 3 to 6 months with the probability of extension
Hours: 5 days in a week, 35 hours in a week, Monday to Friday, Standard Office hours

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Project Expertise: Enhance proficiency in planned and reactive maintenance; oversee minor works and capital projects in portfolios like Education and Social Services; collaborate with clients, contractors, and technical teams.
  • Statutory Testing and Procurement: Develop and implement a testing regime to meet statutory requirements; adhere to the Procurement Policy for transparent order placements.
  • Collaboration and Health & Safety: Coordinate with the DLO section, Building Facilities Officers, and Health & Safety Officers; manage minor and reactive works; implement Health & Safety protocols.
  • Policy Adherence: Comply with Health, Safety, and Welfare at Work policies; uphold Corporate Equality Policy; demonstrate commitment to anti-discriminatory practices.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other duties as required by management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Class 2E BSR (Building Safety Regulator) 
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Building Control Surveyor or similar role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations, codes, and construction methods.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for building control and inspection.
  • Good communication skills with strong interpersonal, management, and delegation skills, capable of working closely with both private and public sector organisations.
