We want to recruit an exceptional Occupational Therapist at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry.

Your Role: Occupational Therapist

Service Line: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

Working Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

Salary: £29,544 per year and increasing to £31,865 per year post preceptorship

Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is a 42 bed hospital specialising in assessment and treatment for children and young people, providing a multi-disciplinary treatment programme designed to support young people to return to their families and the community.

The service consists of 4 wards: Dragon Ward (Low Secure Unit), Pixie Ward (General Adolescent Unit), Faun Ward and Mermaid Ward (Psychiatric Intensive Care Units).

Our dedicated clinical teams provide a full multi-disciplinary programme that includes; occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry, speech and language therapy and social work; offering service users the opportunities and support they need to stabilise their mental health condition and return to the community with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and optimism.

Main duties of the job

Our occupational therapy department supports young people to engage in meaningful occupations, overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging in meaningful activities and focuses on supporting individuals to develop the skills needed to live a more fulfilling life in the community.To support with this, we have a full therapy programme that includes a range of self-care, productive and leisure-based activities.

Our occupational therapy pathway has different stages of treatment and the interventions offered will change as our service users progress through each stage of this pathway.

You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for service users. You will be working alongside the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for CAMHS, other occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.

At Cygnet, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical and Regional Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors.We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.

We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.

Additionally, we offer a sensory integration preceptorship for occupational therapists who are interested in learning new skills within this area.
