Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust

Job summary

An opportunity (1-year fixed term initially moving to permanent) has arisen to join the LPT Research Delivery Team funded by the NIHR CRN, which has an outstanding reputation for an ability to deliver high-quality research. We work with all clinical directorates in the Trust, and within other areas including schools and care homes. We work on local, national and international studies in a number of areas including, but not limited to, mental health, dementia, stroke, heart failure and community health across all ages, with the aim of delivering the best evidence to transform care through cutting edge research. The contribution of research during the COVID pandemic showed these are truly vital roles.

We are looking for candidates with the passion, flexibility and dynamism to build on our reputation. The training opportunities in this role are significant, with skills learned hugely valued, so that we try our best to keep people on board with us.

You will have some experience suitable for this role, and ideally experience working in the healthcare sector. You will be proactive and use your skills flexibly to support the delivery of research on the Clinical Research Network portfolio, with compassion for service-users, carers and staff.

Above all else, you will demonstrate a passion for research as the best tool to change healthcare for the better, and a desire to work both collaboratively and competitively, to make this a reality.

Do you have what we need?

Main duties of the job

The role is new to the team and duties may include providing clinical and non-clinical procedures as required by the study protocol. You will support activity in a number of different research studies in a role analogous to a healthcare assistant but with a research focus, taking samples and some laboratory activity. These studies are from the NIHR Portfolio, and include both interventional and non-interventional studies, and formal clinical trials that may be commercially-funded therefore demanding high standards at all times.

You may support senior staff developing robust feasibility plans for such studies, informing decisions on "capacity" within the organization. This feeds into ensuring that as a Trust and a Team, we deliver to time and target *every* time.

You may potentially be supporting any delivery staff member across a number of different studies and also leading by example. The tasks will be highly varied and need clinical skills to be developed.

The role is funded by the NIHR Research Delivery Network, the "delivery arm" of research in the NHS. The team has its own base, mini-laboratory and clinic room, and although small seeks to punch above its weight in a flexible, and friendly environment. The post-holder will help us move to the next level in performance and continue to grow.

The core of the role is delivering research to a high standard.
