Senior Building Site Manager (Construction) - Murphy's new office site, Golborne ( WA3) 

Murphy have recently started constructing their new "Super Hub" office and depot facility in Golborne. The state of the art "Super Hub" includes an office building, workshops, yard and open storage as well as new vehicular accesses and car parking. As part of the plans, the existing buildings will be demolished and transformed into a 26-home development backing onto a new public greenspace. Dubbed the ‘ Super Hub’, it represents more than a £35m investment in Wigan and the local community  This is a high profile project to be involved with and will push boundaries and show case Murphy talents.

What you will be doing

  • Ability to organise resources, set out priorities, and work within budget & programme timescales
  • Understand and interpret construction phase & site quality plans with quick mobilisation ability
  • Management of site workers, subcontractors, and all general works on site
  • Ensuring Safety documentation (QA plans – ITP’s and Risk Assessments / Method Statements) are developed and enacted on site
  • Help to reduce construction associated costs
  • Planning and programming of current and future works (Short Term Programmes)
  • Completion of As built drawings for handover files
  • Monitor progress periodically against the project plan and monitor expenditure, resolving
  • issues but may escalate critical operational issues to the Senior Project Manager 
  • Line management of Site Managers / Site Supervisors.
  • Review plant, labour and materials to ensure resources are in place for the short to medium term (1-3 months).
  • Liaise with the Senior Project Manager to resolve any technical issues and ensure works are carried out in accordance with the Specification.
  • To comply with company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for a team of General Foreman and workflow supervisors.
  • Responsible for a contract with a turnover of up to £1million to £15million per annum.
  • May contribute to procurement of resources but will not have direct financial responsibility.


Who we are looking for

  • Previous experience in large build construction projects, specifically concrete frame buildings
  • Experience working as a Senior Site Manager on projects with a value of  between £20million to £40million
  • Extensive background in Site/Contract Management delivering contracts of similar value.
  • HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management or relevant experience
  • Solid health and safety knowledge and will hold a health and safety related qualification.
  • SMSTS and NEC Engineering & Construction Contract experience
  • Full Driving License Essential
