Electrical Fitter

We are recruiting for Electrical Fitters for work on-board warships/submarines docked for re-fit and repair works at Devonport dockyard in Plymouth.

We require Electrical Fitters to join the team that is at the forefront of supporting the Royal Navy fleet, playing an integral role in ensuring the serviceability of warships/submarines and systems through detailed maintenance and refit periods by working within multi–trade teams.

You will be required to overhaul and install a variety of electrical equipment that could include distribution, command and control systems, such as weapons, navigation and communications.

Working to electrical/engineering drawings and technical specifications as you install and connect a variety of cabling, plus carry out system and equipment functional tests.

Job requirements:

Ability to read electrical and engineering drawings to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop machinery specific to electrical fitting.
Have worked with Fibre Optics, Data Cables, RF Cables, Plugs and Connectors.
Ideally will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships. Other relevant experience will be considered.

Sucessful applicants will need to hold qualifications in at least one of the following:

• Indentured Apprenticeship
• Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in an electrical discipline
• Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with electrical specialisation
• Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification

Start ASAP

6 months contract initially

35 hours standard with a possibility of shift and overtime.
