Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Support Worker to join the excellent Ward team at St Hughs Hospital on a BANK only contract.

Main duties of the job

The support worker will assist the trained nurses in delivering the highest standard of patient care by undertaking clinical duties under supervision.

Ensure cleanliness of the Department as well as the care and maintenance of equipment in line with Hospital policies and procedures.

To adhere to relevant policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety and Infection Control to ensure a high standard of efficiency and safety at all times.

Job responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To assist the trained nurses in delivering the highest standard of patient care by undertaking clinical duties under supervision.

Ensuring the cleanliness of the Department as well as the care and maintenance of equipment in line with Hospital policies and procedures.

To adhere to relevant policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety and Infection Control to ensure a high standard of efficiency and safety at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To be aware of and familiar with all appropriate Hospital policies and procedures.

To be aware of and maintain high standards of infection control by following appropriate policies and procedures.

Participate in providing optimum patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse and raise any issues of concern.

Assist the nursing staff in ensuring the Ward environment remains clean and tidy by following Departmental protocols.

Maintain both written and electronic records and report any concerns to all relevant personnel.

Assist in the maintenance and control levels of Ward supplies.

Participate in quality assurance initiatives and audits as required.

Communication

Communicate and maintain documentation effectively and safely.

Liaise with relevant members of the team.

Report any accidents or incidents to the nurse in charge of the Department.
