All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for our roles – we will not discriminate on the basis of race, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health decisions, or related medical conditions), national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other legally protected status.

If you’re excited about a role but feel you don’t match perfectly with everything we’ve noted in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway – your experiences, energy and enthusiasm may be just what we’re looking for, for this or for other roles at Valleys to Coast.

Submitting a great application

When applying for a role at Valleys to Coast, we want you to show us why you feel you are the best candidate – tell us about your skills and experiences, and particularly how they would support you to carry out the functions listed in the job description.

As part of our application process, we ask you to share your CV and provide a personal statement. The recruiting panel would like to see examples of your experience so please take time to cross-reference your statement with the job description – this will help when we’re considering which candidates we’d like to invite for an interview. You could use the STAR model (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to explain specific examples.

You may wish to share some information about yourself, such as voluntary work, key achievements, interests or other experiences that have shaped you as a person and make you the perfect fit for Valleys to Coast.

Always leave enough time to think and reflect on your application, this is your opportunity to make a great first impression and persuade us that you’re the right candidate!

What happens if I’m shortlisted?

We’ll aim to let you know if your application has been shortlisted within two weeks of the closing date. If you’re shortlisted we’ll invite you to an in-person interview, usually at our office in Tremains, Bridgend.

We’ll give you at least five working days’ notice before your interview so you have plenty of time to prepare. Alongside the interview we may ask you to prepare a presentation, you may be given a task or have the opportunity to meet the team – this will depend on the role you’re applying for.

Following your interview you’ll hear from us with a decision within a week. We’ll be happy to give you feedback about your interview whether you’re successful or not.

What happens next if I’m offered the role?

Your new line manager will contact you, usually by phone, to let you know that we’d like you to join us at Valleys to Coast! If you accept our offer, we’ll send you some documents by email – this will include an offer letter, a data sheet where we can collect your details, and a declaration of interest form which you must complete and return.

We’ll contact the references you’ve provided us and apply for a DBS certificate if your role requires one. We’ll also arrange a time for you to pop in with proof of your right to work (this may include your passport for example). Your contract will be issued once we have agreed your start date. About a week before you start with us you’ll receive an information letter with all the details you’ll need for your first day.

Lastly – congratulations, we look forward to having you as part of our team!
