Due to increasing demand for our Autism Service we
are now looking for a committed and passionate Nurse Autism Practitioner to join
our experienced multidisciplinary team. You
will work clinically along with Psychologists, Learning Disability Nurses,
Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and teams of assistant
practitioners and charity volunteers.
You will have opportunities for training and
development, to engage in reflective practice, and a chance to support and
shape new services under the direction of the Clinical Lead.
This is a permanent post working as part of an MDT
to deliver effective clinical input through assessment, formulation,
recommendations and guidance to children and families accessing the service.
Main duties of the job
This
is a permanent post supporting the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), in the
delivery of effective clinical services through assessment, formulation and
ongoing support to children, young people and families accessing Caudwell
Children services.
You
will work clinically as part of the MDT that includes Psychologists, Learning
Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists,
Paediatricians, Clinical Assistants, Assistant Psychologists and charity
volunteers. The role also will involve
close collaborative working with the Children and Family Services Department,
Applications Department and Volunteer Department.

children with a disability and their families. Supporting children aged 0 to 18
years. Some of our services extend to
young people transitioning into adulthood to age 25 years. The Caudwell International Childrens Centre
is the UKs first independent purpose-built facility dedicated to autism and
neurodevelopmental disorders.

Job responsibilities
- Provide
enhanced clinical support to the family support team in relation to families and
children accessing the clinical services.
- Support
ADOS and ADI-R assessments with children on the autism service pathway.
- Deliver
a range of workshops to adults and children in relation to ASD approaches and
support.
- Communicate
in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment,
formulation and treatment plans of children and families accessing the clinical
pathway and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary care.
- Undertake
clinical work with individuals and groups providing advice, resources and
strategies, as appropriate, using specialist skills and autism specific
approaches where required.
- Where
necessary, undertake risk assessments and risk management for children and
their families and to provide advice to other professions on aspects of risk
assessment and risk management.
- To
coordinate, where appropriate, the intervention plans in respect of children,
taking responsibility for initiating planning and reviewing progress with
children, their carers, referring agents and others involved in their network
of care.
- Contribute
to the development of the multi-disciplinary team.
- As
part of the team engage actively in practice development, evaluation, audit and
research activities to inform evidence based practice.
- Provide
mentorship and clinical supervision for practice education placements.

appropriate, share and disseminate research findings with professional
colleagues in the interests of practice development.

compliance and completion of CPD activities.

collaboratively with all members of the MDT sharing information as appropriate.
