Specialist SEND Teacher - Autism Spectrum Condition and Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) Needs

About Us: We are a dedicated Specialist Academy located in Worcester, committed to providing exceptional education and support to over 90 children and young people aged 9 to 19 years with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or identified Social, Emotional, or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our nurturing environment aims to empower students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Specialist SEND Teacher to join our team.
Role Overview: As a Specialist SEND Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education and support to students with ASC and SEMH needs. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential and achieve success.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver differentiated lessons and learning activities tailored to meet the individual needs of students with ASC and SEMH needs.
Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to support student progress and development across academic, social, and emotional domains.
Collaborate with colleagues, therapists, and external agencies to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans for students.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and carers, and making adjustments to teaching approaches as necessary.
Foster positive relationships with students, promoting self-confidence, self-regulation, and independence in learning and social interactions.
Create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes inclusion, respect, and understanding of individual differences.
Key Skills and Attributes Required:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with experience working with students with ASC and SEMH needs.
Strong understanding of ASC and SEMH-related issues and challenges, with the ability to implement effective strategies and interventions to support student well-being and learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Adaptability and flexibility to respond to the varying needs and behaviours of students with ASC and SEMH needs.
Empathy, patience, and resilience to support students through their educational journey, promoting a positive and nurturing learning environment.
