This is an exciting time within Adult Social Care on the Isle of Wight, as our whole service has supported a redesign, enhancing strength-based practice, working closely with the community and our third sector partners.
  

We now need an enthusiastic, motivated, passionate and qualified Social Worker to join our 'Access and Wellbeing Hub', focused on triaging safeguarding concerns.  This is a newly designed team and is the first point of contact for all queries and safeguarding concerns raised to Adult Social Care.

In this role you'll use your qualification, skills, and experience to:

·        Manage a varied and complex caseload and balance the needs of the person and service.

·        Fully recognise the importance of ensuring that the voice of those we support is heard.

·        Share our ambitions, passion, and can-do attitude.

·        Enable individuals to be protected and free from harm and abuse and to live a fulfilling life where their wellbeing is promoted.

We need someone who can demonstrate good communication and relationship building skills, working alongside individuals, their families and/or advocates and partner agencies, gathering information and reviewing records to make evidenced informed decisions regarding the outcome of safeguarding referrals. 

On occasion you may be required to undertake duty visits, attend safeguarding meetings, and complete immediate safety planning with individuals.

Key requirements:

·        Social work qualification

·        SWE registered.

·        Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: The Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Data Protection Act

·        Evidence of ability to work to practice guidance/procedure.

·        Specific experience in safeguarding work with understanding of S.42 threshold and safeguarding duties,

PLEASE NOTE: Out of Hours Standby and Call Out
You will be required to take part in the Out of Hours Stand-by Duty Rota as and when requested by management.  Standby and call out duties are paid in accordance with the IWC Terms and Conditions 2012 document (available on request)

The Isle of Wight Council is committed to supporting all newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) through the implementation of a robust post graduate competency framework referred to as the Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE). The ASYE is intended to be the first stage of the continuing professional development for Registered Social Workers, and the framework will be closely allied to the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).  You will be therefore, be required to satisfactorily complete the ASYE programme within a 12-month period (or 18 months if part time).
