Main duties of the job

You would be working as part of a wellbeing & recovery team with a mixture of psychosocial and clinical interventions to support the prison population. This unique environment houses a large and diverse population that need your nursing abilities. There are many opportunities to develop new skills and this role is ideal for nurses seeking to broaden their knowledge and understanding of caring for high risk adults often with complex needs.

We emphasise good collaborative working across teams and regular cross functional meetings to encourage learning and development within the team.

As a Band 5 Nurse you will provide high-quality clinical assessment and treatment to substance dependant prisoners, working in partnership with HM Prison Service and all other stakeholders. You will ensure the delivery and monitoring of high standards of nursing care and relevant substance misuse interventions to all service users in accordance with the standards set out in the NMC Code of Conduct.

  • Disability Nurse

Desirable

  • - Mentorship Qualification

Experience

  • -Suitable experience for a newly qualified nurse
  • -Knowledge of the safe storage and administration of medication
  • -Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and act
  • accordingly if concerns present themselves
  • -Knowledge and ability to comply with the NMC Code of Conduct
  • -Good written and verbal communication skills
  • -Strong IT Skills
  • -Ability to maintain accurate patient records within the standards
  • required locally, the Forward Trust and NMC

  • -Experience of working within a secure environment
  • -Evidence of personal development since entering the NMC register
  • -Audit process and an ability to use audit tools
  • -Experience working within a recovery model
