Job summary

Are you an experienced Scrub Nurse looking to pick up extra shifts during the weekend?

Medicare are currently looking for Scrub Nurses to work weekend shifts for our clients across the Midlands. We offer Flexible Contracts that allow our candidates to choose their preferred working days, hours and locality which allows them to work around their schedule. You would be working as a part of team of Medicare clinicians cpmpleting day surgery procedures. Multiple positions available!

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in the safe handling, transfer and positioning of patients between all areas of the theatre department
  • Provide skilled assistance when participating in scrub and circulating duties in the operating theatre
  • Ensure all that all Theatre equipment is checked as suitable for use prior to each patients operation
  • Ensure all instrument trays and consumables are prepared and fit for use prior to each patients operation
  • To demonstrate clinical expertise in scrub and circulating practice within the operating department.
  • To be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence based care using a defined model of care.
  • To undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust and theatre policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood.
  • To ensure communication with patients and significant others is established, ensuring empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment.
  • To ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing / theatre records, in all formats, are maintained using appropriate documentation and Cerner IT system.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience of working in the NHS.
  • Significant experience in scrub and circulating practice (at Band 5 or above level)

  • Registered Nurse
  • Recognised Postgraduate Theatre Course

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

  • Good written, numeracy and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills including some Electronic patient record IT system
  • Awareness of clinical issues within the theatre department
  • Able to work as part of a team within set boundaries
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment and manage difficult situations
  • Positive and motivated with attention to detail
