Job summary

We are a great General Practice team looking for a great paramedic to join us. We embrace modern models of General Practice and have found the expanded multi-disciplinary General Practice team to be of huge benefit to all those working within the team and patients accessing care from us. We wish to build on this and have another paramedic work with us.

Main duties of the job

Assess, diagnose and treat patients presenting with minor illness, both face to face and via telephone

Use clinical information to provide appropriate treatment and/or make a necessary referral

Assess and manage minor injuries

Undertake home visits

The role could be full or part time with potential to support paramedics wishing to develop their skills.

About us

The Red House Group is based over 3 sites, with our main site in Radlett. We have a broad multi-disciplinary team made up of GPs, practice nurses, ANPs, HCAs, paramedics, clinical pharmacists, physios and social prescribers. We pride ourselves on being a supportive practice with an open door policy amongst staff to discuss complex issues and prioritise sharing a cup of tea together. We also have regular socials which are a lot of fun.

Clinical

  • To assess, diagnose and treat patients with minor illness within the Practice or patients homes.
  • To evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral.
  • To undertake and interpret diagnostics and take appropriate action to manage patient care, whilst distinguishing between abnormal and normal findings. To use broad clinical guidelines (NICE etc.) relating them to individual cases
  • To refer to other members of the healthcare team if needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives and agencies

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level in paramedicine or equivalent experience

Registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council as a paramedic

Evidence of continued professional development level 7 capability

Hold a full UK driving license

Desirable

Post-graduate qualifications in minor injury/illness and advanced patient assessment, either adult or paediatric

Hold or working towards a non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential

Completed two-year Consolidation of Learning period when a newly qualified paramedic

Experienced in a dealing with a range of clinical conditions

Desirable

Experience of working in a primary care setting

Disclosure barring Service (DBS) check

Access to own transport and able to travel within the practice area when needed to visit people in their own home

Desirable

Knowledge of IT systems including EMIS and Accurex
