We
are looking for a full-time Deputy Practice Manager with the potential to
become a Practice Manager for our GP surgery. The ideal candidate should have a
passion for the job, good people skills, a good grasp of IT and common software,
be flexible in working hours, and be able to get on with people and be a good
negotiator. The candidate will receive training on the job and be part of a
well-respected, high-achieving, and CQC Outstanding practice.

Main duties of the job
As a Deputy Practice Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Practice Manager in the day-to-day operations of the practice. You will be expected to become the Acting Practice Manager for a set period each year (normally between 2-3 months) and run the practice in the absence of the Practice Manager. You will be involved in a wide range of activities, including HR, business planning, handling financial systems for the practice (including payroll), selecting, training, and supervising non-clinical staff, developing and supervising appointment systems that work well for patients and clinicians, ensuring accurate records are kept, and liaising with local health organizations such as clinical commissioning groups . You will also be responsible for developing strategies for the practice on issues such as computer systems and security, expanding or changing services, and long-term services.
